Flex base

Flex base

Do you have several missing teeth that affects your ability to speak and chew? Do you often hide your smile when you socialize? If so, dentures may help you reclaim your smile and confidence.

As removable dentures are typically made from a metal base, they are rigid, more noticeable, and can cause irritation to some patients.

As a solution to the problems posed by metal dentures, the flexible partial denture was created in the 1950s. They are more comfortable and provides a better fit than their traditional counterparts. The better fit results from the use of the flexible material used as the flex, which can bend the way your mouth does. Flexible partial dentures are crafted using soft, realistic materials that bend as you chew and speak.

In addition, many patients find these dentures more aesthetically appealing.

At Dr. Ogie, we custom-create flexible partial dentures for each patient. We will take an impression of your mouth and then create the custom partial at our dental laboratory. In most cases, your natural teeth need not undergo any alteration.

Since flexible partials do not have the traditional metal clasps but use gum-colored clasps, they are virtually invisible. When you wear them, no one will know you are wearing them unless you tell them. Also, most flexible materials can blend with the tissue in your mouth.

Benefits of wearing a partial denture

If you have lost several of your natural teeth, partial dentures can return the natural beauty back to your smile by replacing them and providing a closer, more comfortable fit.

Flexible dentures also:

  • Helps to chew and speak better
  • Maintain the shape of your face
  • Ease the stress of your bite
  • Prevent teeth from drifting and shifting
  • Decrease the risk of gum disease
